Yummy Cobbler!

I have always said that I did not eat baked fruit. Well I have to admit that I have been made a lair! I learned how to make this wonderful Blackberry cobbler at the WITO event. I took a class on dutch oven cooking and had the opportunity to win a dutch oven but did not, no Thanks to Misty LOL she won it! The next thing that I am going to invest in is a few DO to make some great cobblers and a few other things that I learned.

Weekend with the Girls!

I had a great time this past weekend! I with to a Women in the Outdoors Weekend hosted at the Floyd County Wildlife Club. This is a group picture of most of us( I know of at one that is not in the pic) in front of the clubhouse. I made some great new friends, that I can not wait to get together with again. First trip of the year was taken by the Mrs.

My Hubby is the greatest! The wildlife club where we belong had a WITO (Women in the Outdoors) weekend, and he sent me! I had a blast. This is a picture of the camper on the lake at the club! Thanks Bart! I missed you so much, but I had a GREAT time with the girls in the woods. I can not wait to go again next time! Shout Out to the WITO! I had great time! See ya in April ladies!

New Shelf

First we cut two pieces of wood the width of the rack and stained them. Then cut the bottom shelf off leaving the wires on like legs or supports. We bought drawer rollers cut them and made these long brackets to slip the wires into for support. We bought the white screw covers to help make it look nice. I love it.

Me and Dad are working together

Hey, I'm Treyton! My Daddy and me are making Mama a shelf to put her spices and other things. My Daddy says I am a great helper. Here is a pic of the wire rack that we are going to use to make the shelf.

Curtains Too!

I made curtains to match the slip covers. I took down the old curtains and used a sem ripper and carefully took the plastic pieces off that slide into the slots. I measured, cut, and roll hemmed each panel then sewed the plastic pieces on to the new curtains. I bought the fabric at Wal Mart on the clearance rack for a $1.oo a yard. It took about 12 yards for the curtains. The fabric was good and thick, with out tented windows I did not have to line them. One night we came home and did not even realize that we had left the lights on in the camper earlier that day when we were packing it.

A mod for the Ladies.

In this pic you can see that the original fabric on the bunk end that was the brown checked pattern, popular in the 80's. I made slip covers for my table cushions. I measured the length and the height of the cushion x 2 ( Ex. 19 inches long and the height was 3 inches in height...19 +3+3=25 inches ) then measured the width plus the height again and got the dementions for the amount of fabric that I needed. then I centered the cushion in th middle and put a dot at each corner. I cut each corner to the dot matched it up and sewed each corner to make a slip cover. It just slips over the top on the cushion. I roll hemmed the edges so they would look good.

New Table

Just like much of the countertops the table also had some water damage. Last weekend we were at a community yard sale and run across a white table that the legs are like saw horses but not attached to the table top. Bart and I bought the table for $5.00, brought it home, cut it to fit, rounded the corners off, took the hardware off the original table, and attached the white tabletop. We gained 1 1/2 inches of table width, and Bart got a set of saw horses! What a DEAL!

All the cabinets are back in!

We are so excited and are starting to stock the camper back up! These are pics of the new counter tops that we made. Everything fit back into place, with only a few minor adjustments. We can hardly wait to get out and do some camping!

I know one pic is a little dark, but we got the table/bed back in and the bottom part of the fold up cabibet in. Bart was putting them and the power back in while I was working on getting the countertops done. We are really getting excited about it all coming back together!

Ouch that had to hurt!

This is our friend Marla. She learned 2 valuable lessons Sunday afternoon. The first was that you do not come by for a visit when we are "INSPIRED" because we take all the help we can get! The 2nd lesson hurt! She got a large sliver of wood in the palm of her pointer finger tip(notice how it is straight out in the picture), and on the side she got a large splinter IN and I do mean IN her finger! OUCH! We had to dig them out and she did not even cry or cuss! I about did! We fixed it up and she went right back to sanding.( We are Slave Drivers! LOL) She was a real trooper! Thanks for spending the afternoon with us Marla, and for the free labor! No we do not have workers comp insurance!

Countertops?

Getting the new floor covering down really inspired us! We knew that we needed to replace the countertops because of the water damage. So what do you do when you get inspired...We go to Lowes! Our Lowes is great! Last year we met Adrian, one of the managers, and that man really helps his customers. He helped us come up with a way to waterproof our camper again. We looked at counter tops and other things, but with the money tree has not doing to good. We wanted something to look nice and stay in the budget. Plus we would be buying and spilting alot of it and that would just waste more money. Adrian showed us some 1/2 sanded plywood and suggested staining and polying it. We got to thinking about and looking at all the options, we decided to but 3/4 plywood and sanded it ourselves. Just to keep from having to adjst anything since that was the width of the countertops. They turned out great! Bart measured and cut them and I sused the all in one stain and poly. We let them cure over night and will get them in today!

Floor covering complete!

We finally got the new floor covering down! We put it down after church. We had wanted to do it earlier in the week but wanted to cross ever t and dot every i before we put it down! Bart is so pleased with me! LOL I have been patient! Not something that I am usually! I am very proud of him! He has worked on all the little details all week long!

Fix the sag!

Ok when we were looking at the new floor we noticed that the door was not shutting tight enough ( a problem with sagging that we have had.)

So we wnt to Lowes and came up with this nifty idea to help pull up the sagging and now hte door closes great! Just as a precaution we did it on both sides.

THE NEW FLOOR!!!

Well here ya go!!! Yeah we had to piece some of it together because we could only find 4x8 sheets of treated plywood. We are using waterproof Liquid Nails to seal any cracks or spaces in the wood. We are hoping to get the floor covering down today.

Got to keep it together!

Here is a pic of Bart bolting in the new floor. In the first pic on the left you can see two screws. The smaller one is the first type of screw that we used. Well they did go through and would work, but they would break very easy. Well last night Bart went and got these "Fat Boys" . He said that they worked alot better!

The guys truned this grinder into a mini saw. Lawyane is using it in the picture above to cut out some of the good wood that was around a few edges. We sometimes gotta do what ya gotta do. He is measruing twice in the picture to the left. Good job!

"I got a long way to go!"

Here is just another quick picture of my wonderful Hubby working hard to get the job done! He and Lawyane had to use some wood Lawayne had to sit on and stand on just to work and not fall through. Taking out this floor was a job! He and Lawayne worked for two hours just to get the little bit of good wood out of the camper. Good Job Guys.

Rotten Floor!

As you can see it floor was in bad shape. Bart is holding up the thin layer of tin that is on the bottom of the camper floor. If you look hard you can see the pulleys for the lift system. Last Spring we found a leak in the roof which may have caused some damage, but we believe that the previous owners knew that there was some damage and they just threw some particle board over the weak floor and then threw some carpet down. We scraped off the chalk that was on the roof and rechalked and used a trailer sealant to help us seal it good. We are going to rechalk the roof again soon.

Great Man!

This is a real good ,,, no GREAT man! This is Bart, Man of the House, and King of the Camper!

Bart has taken all the cabinets in our 1986 Starcraft Pop Up camper, because of the rotten floor! This is going to be a huge project! We know that in the end it will be worth it. Our friends Lawayne and Jennifer are here to help! As they always do! THANKS SO MUCH! We have already been to Lowes twice to get the tools to finish taking out what little bit of good wood is left around the edges. It was chilly this morning working on it.

Floor fallout!

As you can see about 95% of the floor was rotten. Bart is pulling up the parts that he can by hand. He bought him a small crow bar that he says is a great help! When we started pulling up the floor we found out that there was a thin sheet of tin. There are a lot of rusted out holes, but we are chosing not to tear this out. We are going to replace the floor with 3/4 inch persure treated plywood. We are looking for a spray on rubber sealnant to put on the bottom of the plywood.
